Nomophobia is characterized by anxiety and fear experienced when individuals are unable to access their smartphones or remain connected to digital networks. This study aimed to analyze the impacts of nomophobia on individuals’ mental, physical, and social health through an integrative literature review. The bibliographic search was conducted in the PubMed, SciELO, and Brazilian Journal of Medical Education (RBEM) databases, including studies published between 2020 and 2025. The findings demonstrated an association between nomophobia and psychological distress, especially anxiety, stress, depressive symptoms, sleep disturbances, and impaired interpersonal relationships. In addition, physical manifestations related to excessive smartphone use, such as musculoskeletal pain, postural alterations, fatigue, and ocular discomfort, were identified. However, the review revealed a scarcity of studies specifically addressing the physical impacts of nomophobia and the development of effective therapeutic and preventive strategies. The predominance of quantitative and cross-sectional studies also highlights methodological limitations in the current literature. Therefore, further investigations are needed to expand the understanding of nomophobia and support preventive and therapeutic interventions related to problematic smartphone use.
