Abstract

The objective of this academic work was to aware (N=76) 6º to 8º grade’s students about Brazilian fauna athwart the animals drawn on the banknotes and evaluate the students’ knowledge about its species. The instruments used were an initial questionnaire, class with flannelgraph and a final questionnaire to evaluate the obtained knowledge by the students. Results demonstrate that before the pedagogical activities, the students had only known general nomenclature, such as: turtle, fishes, birds, monkeys. In the pre-intervention questionnaire none of the students appointed the name of the Great Egret, but after the intervention, (N=72) the students informed its name. The students didn’t have adequate knowledge about animals’ alimentation and its habitat, however, by this study was possible to provide this information in an interactive way, by using the flannelgraph. We can infer that using Real banknotes’ species in zoology teaching was efficient and provided and significant apprenticeship to the students.
