Abstract

The content on fungi has been taught since the 6th grade. Often this content is transmitted in a superficial way, with expository and poorly contextualized lessons, using only the textbook as support. These organisms are part of students' daily lives, but most students relate to them as evil beings, associating them with mycoses, spoiled and moldy things. This work was carried out with a 1st year high school class and its aim was to propose the use of didactic sequences as a way of teaching the content about fungi, through the use of a previous questionnaire, experiments with yeasts, a lecture using the data show, observation of food decomposition, and identification of some types of fungi using the Google Lens app. The teaching-learning process took place in a more meaningful way, promoting the role of the students in an investigative approach so that there was a better understanding of the biological role of these organisms and their use in various products.
