Abstract

Objective: Understand the perceptions of teachers and school administrators regarding the promotion of menstrual dignity. Methods: This is a qualitative, exploratory research conducted with the management team of a state school in São Paulo, using a semi-structured questionnaire, during the period from August to September 2023. The data were analyzed using the IRAMUTEQ® program and Thematic Analysis. Results: Three categories emerged: 1) Menstrual dignity - beginning, middle, and end, which highlights the actions taken by the school to promote menstrual dignity; 2) From the distribution of pads to menstrual health as a right, which includes the participants' views on menstrual dignity and how it impacts the lives of all who menstruate; 3) School as a promoter of menstrual health, which indicates that the school environment should be a place of support, safety, and accurate information to positively impact the community beyond the school. Conclusion: The implementation of a specific program was relevant and important for promoting menstrual dignity in the school and increasing the knowledge of teachers and students on the subject, making them feel more secure in dealing with, addressing, and sharing the topic.
