Atitudes e percepções de alunos do Ensino Médio sobre a depressão na adolescência

Resumo

          

A depressão na adolescência é um evento comum e traz inúmeros prejuízos de curto e longo prazo, tais como mal rendimento escolar, alterações nas relações familiares e o aumento do risco de comportamento suicida. Portanto, o presente trabalho buscou investigar as percepções dos alunos do Ensino Médio Técnico de uma instituição pública de ensino acerca do tema depressão. Para a coleta de dados foi aplicada a técnica do grupo focal com 43 alunos de uma escola da rede federal, além de questionários fechados. Os resultados evidenciaram que os alunos não reconhecem a depressão como uma doença, acreditam que é algo incurável e que as pessoas que apresentam a doença têm dificuldades de buscar tratamento. Além disso, os adolescentes participantes do estudo percebem que as relações humanas dentro do ambiente escolar podem contribuir para o desenvolvimento da depressão. Pode-se concluir que os estudantes têm a compreensão de que a escola pode contribuir de forma positiva para a prevenção dessas ocorrências, contudo destacam a necessidade de criação de espaços para o diálogo entre toda a comunidade escolar.

Abstract

 

Depression in adolescence is a common occurrence and causes numerous losses, such as poorer school performance, altered family relationships, and increased risk of suicidal behavior. Therefore, the present work sought to investigate the perceptions of the Technical High School students of a public institution of education about the depression theme. For data collection, the focus group technique was applied with 43 students from a federal school, in addition to closed questionnaires. The results showed that students do not recognize depression as a disease, believe that it is incurable and that people who have the disease have difficulty seeking treatment. In addition, the adolescents participating in the study realizes that human relationships within the school environment may contribute to the development of depression. It can be concluded that students have the understanding that the school can contribute positively to the prevention of these occurrences, but they emphasize the need to create spaces for dialogue between the entire school community.
