Abstract

The article aims to discuss the contributions of the educator Conceição Paludo to the field of Popular Education, due to the relevance of her work and her political-intellectual career, in different aspects: regarding her relation established with the foundations of historical-dialectical materialism, with the praxis of Popular Education, and the experiences forged within social and popular movements; in the legacy of an organic intellectual, committed to scientific practice engaged with the processes of human emancipation, by assuming an ethical-political dimension when thinking about and carrying out educational practice; in the epistemological stance she sought through her research and studies, making explicit the central contradictions of capitalism, in the relationship between totality and particularity, underlying the phenomena under study; in exposing the conditions of life in all its spheres and complexities, and, finally, in announcing the need for the radical transformation of society. This study highlights Conceição's social, political and educational importance through her work, demonstrating the strategic role she played in Popular Education, in defense of a transformative and liberating project, as a task for the workers.
